Who likes the Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan is the right car for all those who want to drive purely electrically, but who like to drive not only straight ahead, but also on winding roads.

Emotions instead of emissions

For most electric cars, the focus is on the environment and costs. They should be locally emission-free and at the same time cause lower costs per kilometer. At Porsche, it's different: the Taycan can do that too, but at its core it's a sports sedan – simply electric instead of classic with petrol. Two permanently excited synchronous motors provide propulsion. And how: The Taycan already produces 530 hp in the base, which is enough for 4.0 seconds for 0 to 100 km/h.

Silent cornering speedster

Word has gotten around that electric cars are fast at traffic lights. But the Taycan also feels really comfortable in curves. Its curb weight of over 2.2 tons is not noticeable. The center of gravity is also very low due to the batteries installed in the underbody, and thanks to rear-wheel steering, it feels much more compact in corners. A novelty for electric cars is the 2-speed automatic. This ensures that the Taycan accelerates powerfully on the motorway, for example, even beyond 100 km/h. The brakes are stable, but at 2.2 tons it remains a heavy car.

Sleek look

Even when stationary, the Taycan is clearly recognizable as a Porsche, although it differs quite clearly from the 911 or Panamera. You can't see its size at first glance, and it is also extremely streamlined with a CW value of 0.22. The interior of the Taycan is also clearly a Porsche. The cockpit is completely digital, and it also has the brand's typical rotary wheel on the steering wheel, which allows you to select different driving modes. Another advantage: because the batteries are installed in the underbody, the Taycan has two trunks with a total load volume of almost 500 liters.

Unique sound

In the sharpest "Sport Plus" mode, the Taycan not only reacts more directly to accelerator pedal commands and crouches even lower above the asphalt. The electric car then sheds its acoustic restraint and produces a futuristic sound that is a bit reminiscent of Darth Vader or Star Wars. In any case, it gives the driver a grin on his face. After all, the purchase of the Taycan 4S was not cheap. At least 135,700 francs switch to the dealer, in our case it was even 169,260 francs with some options.

What we like less

On the flat and uphill, the high curb weight cannot be completely concealed, especially downhill and when braking. In addition, it is very expensive with some options like our test car.

What we particularly like

The Taycan is and remains a Porsche, offering even more driving pleasure than its brother Panamera. It also looks fresher and sleeker and is even more efficient and ecologically on the road.
